12 Days of Christmas Book Tag | LibroLiv

Only 3 more days until Christmas!

Today, as a part of my spontaneous book tags until Christmas routine, I come to you with the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag. I first saw this tag on Stephanie’s Book Reviews, so make sure you read her post here before reading mine!

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

I primarily read stand-alone novels, so this was a tough choice. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, however, pips the others to the post; this book will always have a special place in my heart.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

Sorry to all of the Jessa fans, but Wessa will forever have my heart.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

This series, by Stephanie Perkins, is my favourite because it is irresistibly feel-good, and I love the discreet ways in which all of the book are interlinked, unlike your typical trilogy.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

I’m not an avid reader of series, and I really didn’t want to choose another Shadowhunter book – lest this post become horrifyingly tedious – but I saw no alternative. Thus, I present to you, The Mortal Instruments (my favourite series)!

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your favourite Villain/Antagonist?

(Gah! I was about to say Sebastian/Jonathan from The Mortal Instruments. (He’s a very well-crafted villain.) Alas, I will choose something else. )

I think Warner from the Shatter Me trilogy is a pretty good villain. Definitely my favourite.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Shadowhunters. The wizarding world! There are so many possibilities, from magic to Quidditch, from the sweets to the creatures.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

Yes, I’m aware Shrek is not a book. It is, however, the home of the best animal side-kick ever, Donkey. Don’t even try to argue with me on this one!

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Call me 18th century, but I’m actually a big fan of milk. So there.

Lemonade with lemon-zest infused ice cubes? Count me in!

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kick-ass female lead?

Forget Wanda! Melanie Stryder, anyone?

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.

How about your favourite leading lad?

I’m sorry, I have to do it! Simon Lewis from the Shadowhunter world. His development from City of Bones to Angels Twice Descending is astounding, and I adore his persistence, and – obviously – dry humour.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

Each chapter is named for an 80s pop song in The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg, and I really like that idea.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

If You’re Lucky by Yvonne Prinz, A Work in Progress by Connor Franta, and Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill, just to name a few. Keep an eye out for my top 10 books of 2015 post coming soon!

And that’s all the questions! I won’t be tagging anyone, because I just want to encourage everyone who enjoyed this post to join in.

Come on, it’s Christmas! Spread the cheer!

Until next time, and to keep up with my reading as it happens, find me on Goodreads, Twitter, and Tumblr.

I look forward to reading your answers to this tag – make sure you tell me if you do complete these questions, so I can check them out! Or, just post your answers in the comments!

I’ll see you very soon with another Christmassy blog post!
